Random Stuff

That cold FINALLY let go of me. I still have some chest congestion, but I don't feel like a tapeworm is sucking up all my energy, anymore. I'm actually semi-motivated for the first time in two and a half weeks.

The house is great, but we still have boxes and boxes of stuff to find a home for. I've been trying to empty a few boxes a night, but it's been tough with my cold. I figure we could possibly be unpacked by the end of October.

Yesterday was Daddy/Duncan Day. The day care was closed for Columbus Day, so I got to spend the day with my boy. Sadly, he had some stomach issues and was miserable for a stretch, but we did go on a big walk through the new neighborhood. As per usual, he zonked half-way though, but Abby sure loved the rest of the journey. By the time Wendy got home, I was wiped. Just in time for a family visit!

Wendy's sister came to town for their fall break to visit her parents, so we all went to dinner with her and Benjamin. Sometimes I feel really sorry for the Red Robin employees... it's like a controlled chaos that I wouldn't want in my job. I'm not sure how they can keep up with the mess. The burgers are good, though.

My guild dropped Shade of Aran the other night, but I've been too busy to join in. I'm hoping that once things slow down I can play a little more. I got the loot bug after I won that nice staff, so now I get antsy when I hear about good stuff dropping when I'm not there. I'm also starting to feel like I'm a pretty good DPSer. There's actually been some times when people were upset I wasn't able to go on the raids. That made me feel good.

One of my oldest friends is joining us for DDO on Tuesday nights now. Ken Case and I used to play D&D and run together in high school. At his engagement party last month, we let him know we needed an arcane caster for our party, so he's joining us. The only problem is power-leveling a DDO character isn't something I really know how to do. We so used to moseying through that game, that I'm not sure we'll be very good at trying to catch him up to us. We'll see.

I read a great website the other day. The Daedalus Project has an extensive amount of survey data from MMO players. Most people think that people who play the online games are just eating up their lives with the play. But what the survey shows is that while most Americans view 28 hours of weekly TV, MMO players only watch 8. Since the average MMO player spends 20 hours per week on his hobby, his TV and MMO time add up to about what the average person spends watching TV. I found this fascinating.

Duncan is great. I have a whole new batch of pictures, but blah blah sick blah blah no motivation... blah blah. Yeah, yeah.. I know. Soon, dammit.

Work is stressful lately, and I still need to find a higher paying gig. With two sets of house expenses last month, we really dipped into our credit. Toss on that we had to pay for all the stuff we remodeled the house with, and we're hurting till after X-mas.

On the Play-On front, Stephen and I are heading to Constellation this weekend to run some board games. We're going to spend a whole day teaching people games to promote our con... it's terrible, I tell you... terrible.

Today I'm doing my second installment of the WoW podcast with the Dead Workers. I joined them last week for Episode 20, and they've expressed an interest in having me join them every week. It's kind of weird thinking about how to frame my experiences in Warcraft as a presentation... almost like running a con panel on a weekly basis. I am excited about this.

House of Brews has asked me to decorate the place for Halloween. I've got some ideas using stuff we've done in the past with The Monstrosity. Anyone want to help?

Ok, back to work.
