A few pictures from this week....
Dec. 26th, 2002 03:20 pmI had some good friends come into town and spend the weekend with me, which then lead into a wonderful X-mas at home with people I love.
Here's a peek:

Gevara and Ron show their colors.
Friday Night, after Ron and Amanda got into town, I joined them at the Jazz Factory for some cocktails....

And look! I ran into Desi! (Although Spencer looks like he just swallowed a bad shrimp)

Awwww... Ron and Amanda look all sweet and stuff!

I'm not thinking that Ron and Gevara are looking all that sweet...
Saturday, I had to help a friend do some catering, then hit the club for some Disco Dancing!
Sadly, I took no pictures and spent way too much money on beer for an afterparty...
Sunday, we went to see a B-52's cover band that Tina has booked for Crossroads.

I want to build a big moon for my den, just like that one.

It was a surprisingly good time... I haven't enjoyed live music in a while....

And I even ended up knowing one of the band members!
After that, we hit the club and finally Humpries in a last ditch effort to catch up with some of Amanda and Ron's old friends.
Monday was my big fat sushi dinner with Gevara and Ron
We must have eaten more raw fish than my entire sushi history combined.
Afterwards, we hit the Jazz Factory to catch some of the joie de vivre that comes from having hundreds of exported people returning home to the nest and looking for booze.

Tiffany and Ron talk about how they gave up hamster-style kung fu.

Amanda gives me a smooch from under her chapeau

The tables there are so high, we felt like we were sitting at the kiddie table for thanksgiving.

Amanda's new favorite funny man.
Tuesday was spent finishing my X-mas shopping and trying to get to my parents in time!
I actually kinda like shopping on Christmas Eve... the lines are short, the people are all nice... and it actually feels like the Christmas spirit is in the air.
That night, Steph and I had dinner at my parents, then went to midnight mass where we got to hear the minister talking about crushing the head of baby Jesus. We couldn't stop giggling. Then we hit the Tavern for a late night drink and to drop some quarters in the crack pipe.
Wednesday was for raking in the loot
We spent the morning stuffing our faces, then the afternoon opening our stuff. Steph and I had mostly bought each other things together, so we knew what we were getting, but we did save one surprise each. My parents were a lot of fun because pretty much did the same. It was a nice Christmas, even though I wasn't able to buy people the kinds of gifts I wanted to.

Here's my little family... Mom, Dad, Steph, and Granddog Abby.
Unfortunately, Steph had to work that night, so she didn't get to stay for X-mas dinner... so I took her a plate for when she got off work.

She also missed seeing my adorable step-nephew and neice...

And there is nothing quite as simple as watching kids open presents...

And while I don't think Cassie here really liked the present I got her, my mom bought her a Gameboy, so she was doing ok!
That night, I hit the Turtle and the Tavern to find some more of that wonderful "joy of life" and got a great night with
pseudovillain and Sonny. I also got to plot how to take over 2/3 of the world with "The Other Wes" and some very old Jazz Factory coworkers.

lunatikl let me borrow her for the night since he had to go to bed and stuff...

Needless to say, things got silly.

Why I took a picture of Spook, I will never know... Classy pic, huh?

Much booze and touch screen later, we wound down for the night...
It was really great to spend time with good friends this week... Things have sucked so badly this year, and it was such a blessing to know that there were people out there who love me and want to spend time with me. I hope that everyone else got to feel the same love in their chilly X-mas season.
But.... I still wish it had snowed.
