Watched The Incredibles, The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, and Donnie Darko today.

LOVE The Incredibles... it almost makes me cry. Narnia was fun... and it was nice to revisit the allegory. Donnie Darko always leaves me feeling... distant.

Right now, I feel like my quiet house is a universe unto itself... or a place where time is moving at some odd pace that defies explanation... like I'm coming down off some drug, and the world is new... but very quiet.

I should probably go read. I'm re-reading the the George R.R. Martin books before I start A Feast of Crows. They are so delicious, even on a return visit. I just wish I didn't feel so alien right now.

I'll check my auctions and try out the book. If it doesn't work, I'll come back to dig around in teh interweb for a while.

Cheers to [livejournal.com profile] mengus for my new icon.

It's Tuesday... my Monday.

My head is throbbing, and I feel eight brazillian miles away from normal. The restaurant was clean and ready to go when we opened, so that made for a delightful break from the norm. But later today, I have to tell two people that I took shifts away from them. Two friends.

I know, I know. I'm a manager and shouldn't be friends with the people who work for me. But I hate that idea. I think you should care about your coworkers. I just wish I could get people to care more about what I'm trying to do around here... That's not going to happen, so I guess it gets to be a one-sided care... But hey, I've lived with that before, I can do it again.

What did they do? They didn't come in when we needed them while they were on-call. Westerfest was last weekend, and I guess the siren song was too compelling. I hope it was worth it... because I'm going to offer their shifts to people who support Tom & Aunia for a while... till I'm convinced I've rewarded the people who care with the most shifts. We'll see if it has any effect. I'm not sure it will. It will probably just make them mad.

Oh well... back to inventory.
