I find it truly amazing that the neighbor two doors down is mowing his lawn at 9am. Maybe I'll understand it one day, but I'm not quite Geriatric yet... and it seems like a rather crappy thing to do.

I wish my plants would quit drying out.

I'd say the heat has something to do with it.

9am is kinda late actually. Yeah it stinks for late sleepers but alot of people are up and out the door at 6am. Mowing grass early in the AM is nice cause it isnt quite as hot outside. I plan on cutting the grass at 8pm tonight. Just before it gets dark in hopes its a little bit cooler.

Mine starts at 6am, it really ticks me off.

My thought as well. When they did that this past sunday I started entertaining all sorts of maiming. 6am is just an ungodly hour to annoy your neighbors. Of course right across the street we have other jerks that like to rev their custom motors at midnight up and down the street. One of many reasons I'm moving subdivisions asap!

I haven't had to cut my grass in over a month, I don't think. All I have to do is run the push-mower next to the driveway where some stubborn faster-growing grass likes to grow.

Mowing the lawn for older folks (on Saturdays especially) at 8-9 AM is normal to my neighbors. Gives them something to do I guess.
Heat or no heat, they're up and mowing before 9.

I guess I am old. I would rather mow at 9 or 10 am because it is cooler and then I can take a shower and start my day.

9:00 am.??? that's "after" the wake up zone... on a weekday... and it's before the heat of mid-day.

geez... complain much?

:)

mow?

I'd rather pay someone else to do it than cut it any time of day. Fuck yardwork.
That reminds me, I gotta find someone to cut my grass...

Yep, I like to do yard work early in the morning too. (Although I'm not a 6 am mower, that's for sure. Cripes!)

I try to be considerate, but you can never be sure you're not going to wake someone up, no matter when you choose to crank up the mower. What if some 3rd-shift workers moved in next door? Would it be rude to mow between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm? *shrug* I guess you just have to play the odds and mow when you think that the majority of your neighbors are awake. And most people I know are up before 9 am, even on weekends. Besides, if I waited until 11, I'd still be mowing at noon and I'd probably pass out from heat stroke.

And yeah, I suppose I could go out and mow after dinner. But mornings are more pleasant than evenings because the heat and humidity that build up all day usually haven't dissipated much by 8 pm. Plus, I like to spend my evenings drinking beer and relaxing on the patio, not doing chores.

My recommendation for you? Buy some earplugs.

It's FUCKING HOT OUTSIDE. IT'S COOLER IN THE MORNING.

jesus, sorry, but this is like the thirtieth damn post about neighbors doing shit in the morning I have read today.

Well, it's a lot easier to mow at 9 am than it is to mow in the middle of the day. Bursting into flames from all the heat & rising out of my ashes like a phoenix repeatedly has this annoying way of making the yardwork take 39485734953543 times as long to do.

Well, seamus & I have been considering going door-to-door at one A.M. asking folks if they've heard the Good News about the Buddha... ;)

Dude across the street mows his lawn at 5am. Every week. Like clockwork.

Ugh.

People in our neighborhood start around 7. I'm down with that. But our houses aren't 2ft apart, so I don't hear it.
I tried starting at 9am once. Didn't work. It was already so hot...
Waiting til 8pm around here makes no difference, it's STILL almost 90 some days.

When you REALLY need to sleep...

...like in about nine months from now.

We got three. One for Mom/Dad, one for each kid's room. For us it's not the mowers but the idiot neighbor who leaves her two dogs outside all night when she goes away for the weekend. These wonderful gadgets have rendered the barking dogs' powers useless against our sleep...useless I tells ya'! They go with us wherever we travel.

We have a similar gizmo and it works incredibly well, and you know how lightly Gabe sleeps! My oh-so-nocturnal cat can go apeshit down the hall, car alarms can go off randomly all night, the bulldozers down the street can start carving up all that useless farmland down the street into sparkly, new cul-de-sacs at 5 am, but we sleep right through it all. We were skeptical at first, but these things are downright miraculous!
