SURPRISE!
Remember how pretty the bradford pear was in the spring?
Well... half of it decided to fall off onto the house and driveway.
Our first instinct was that it had been hit by lightning, but the dark spot on here wasn't burnt enough.
Our neighbor says a flock of birds landed in it, and the weight was too much for it to support.
But even my friend Victor is dubious of the bird theory... his quote was,
"Birds are notoriously light... seeing as they can fly and all..."
It appears we only ended up with some gutter damage, but I haven't heard from the appraiser.
I cut up the log that only landed on the driveway in the meantime....
mmmmmmm... firewood.
