Despite my attempt to keep things organized last year, I seem to have misplaced my invoice for burlap from last year. Since I use over 100 yards of burlap each year building my static props, it's a requirement that I have a good source. Each year, I have ordered a big roll of it from a supply company in Tennesee for around $75 and was hoping to order two this year.

As I said, I lost the invoice, so I started calling my local nursery to try and find out the name of that landscaping supply company where I have ordered it from in the past. The older gentleman that worked there was filling in for the owner since his son was having surgery, and was actually a landscaper himself. When I asked him about the burlap and informed him of what I pay, he said, "Yeah, that's about right... if you want, I could just sell you the ones I have and then pick up a couple extra next time I'm up in Elora."

So he gives me directions to his house and tells me he'll be home after 2:30 or so.

Maybe he's making a buck or two off this, but it's not much... I think he's just doing this to be nice.

My dog has a tendancy to turn into a freak if given a chance. If she knows she's going to ride with me somewhere, the first thing she does is run out the front door and start smelling random patches of grass. Infortunately, she also has a problem with hauling ass across the street.

Last night, on the way to Steph's house, she decided the house across the street was a good place to visit, and so I got angry and called her back to the car. Instead of doing so at her usual slow pace, she went into Scooby/Shaggy mode and tore into a run from across the street.... not noticing the car that had just turned the corner.

Steph and I watched as Abby ran directly in front of the car. We watched as she got nailed by the bumper and screeched. We watched as she fell into multiple barrel rolls and covered 15 feet in less than a second. We watched as she rolled under [livejournal.com profile] lunatikl's car and came to a stop. And we watched as she hopped up to sniff what had hit her.

She ran around like a freak, sniffing the car, sniffing the people who got out to check her, turning in random directions, and running 10 feet at a time. She was obviously scared, but she usually tries to get really friendly when she gets hurt. In the car were Jennifer Neffer and a friend.. they felt so terrible.

I'm amazed my dog walked away from that... but I doubt she really learned a lesson.

Hmmmmm
