What I Love About The South
Oct. 9th, 2002 01:47 pmDespite my attempt to keep things organized last year, I seem to have misplaced my invoice for burlap from last year. Since I use over 100 yards of burlap each year building my static props, it's a requirement that I have a good source. Each year, I have ordered a big roll of it from a supply company in Tennesee for around $75 and was hoping to order two this year.
As I said, I lost the invoice, so I started calling my local nursery to try and find out the name of that landscaping supply company where I have ordered it from in the past. The older gentleman that worked there was filling in for the owner since his son was having surgery, and was actually a landscaper himself. When I asked him about the burlap and informed him of what I pay, he said, "Yeah, that's about right... if you want, I could just sell you the ones I have and then pick up a couple extra next time I'm up in Elora."
So he gives me directions to his house and tells me he'll be home after 2:30 or so.
Maybe he's making a buck or two off this, but it's not much... I think he's just doing this to be nice.
