Ok. I just got done watching Joe Scarborough admit that George Bush is delusion and idealistic. I almost feel like some of those rabid people on the right are FINALLY getting what people from the left and center have been broadcasting for months and months.

I would listen to the casual discounting of Bush critics... "Oh, you know those liberals... what would you have us do, HUG the terrorists?" "Those people just hate George Bush, they'll do anything to make this war sound bad." "Oh, that mainstream media... always talking about the BAD things, never the GOOD things." It was vile. It was repugnant. And now, I feel like the wife who has been trying to tell her husband that he took a wrong turn at Albuquerque THREE FUCKING YEARS AGO!

Again, if you read back in my journal, I supported this ridiculous farce of a war, based on the information that Bush provided. After Colin Powell spoke before the U.N., I said, "Wow! If this information is true, then YES, I support this war!" But it wasn't true, and the government found out a good chunk of its information was worthless less than a week after Powell's appearance. Had Bush been a real person instead of some kind of cartoon character, he would have said, "Hey, a good chunk of this information has been debunked and found fraudulent... perhaps we should analyze the rest of it!" We all know that isn't what happened.

So now, even the rabid right is starting to see how ridiculously myopic their dear leader is. Having been in the passenger seat for this very long ride, I am absolutely pissed. How the hell can America dig itself out of this hole George Bush and his braindead neocons have dug for us? How the hell can that man stand in front of the American people and continue to spew his bullshit idealistic rhetoric when even his brown-nosing toedies don't even believe him anymore. How the hell can these rabid right idealogues keep from turning on each other like ravenous dogs now that their comrades are saying exactly what the evil mainstream media has been announcing for months and months?

WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH THESE PEOPLE?! HOW THE HELL DID THE CONSERVATIVES ALLOW THIS IDIOT TO LIE TO THEM FOR SO LONG? WE TRIED TO TELL YOU THIS WASN'T WHITEWATER OR LEWINSKI! HUMAN LIVES WERE AT STAKE! WHAT THE HELL KIND OF BACKWARDS-ASS MORON THINKS THAT IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO SUPPORT SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE HE SAYS HE'S CONSERVATIVE? NEVER MIND THAT HE HASN'T DONE A SINGLE FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE THING SINCE HE STEPPED INTO OFFICE! NEVER MIND THAT EVERYONE TOLD YOU IN 2000 THAT HE PRESENTED NO EVIDENCE THAT HE WAS ANYTHING OTHER THAN A TYPICAL FAILED BUSINESSMAN CUM POLITICIAN! NEVER MIND EVERYTHING! AT LEAST HE'S NOT CLINTON, RIGHT?!?!

Well I hope you're proud of where this nation is. We had a lot of work to do to convince the world that "Cold War" America was no long running the show, and now we look like fucking idiots. Instead of taking our role as a moral compass for the world, we look like some kind of red kryptonite superman bumbling around in world affairs we have absolutely no understanding of. We've failed to destroy the Taliban AND Al-Quida, and we've weakened our national resolve to the point of futility and nihilism.

Bill Kristol was on The Daily Show and tried to say that we were better off having taken the war to the terrorists since there had been no terrorist attacks in the five years since. Jon was a good man and pointed out that after the bombing of the World Trade Centers in 93, there weren't any attacks for longer than Bush's record. Bill, in typical neocon fashion, reminds us of the Cole Bombing to prove his point. Jon quickly quips back to remind him of Spain and England if we are counting attacks on foreign soil. But Jesus Christ... do we not count all those bombings in Iraq?! What the hell is the MATTER with these people? Why is it SO IMPORTANT for the neocons to be right that we are willing to kill soldiers and civilians, pass off unconstitutional legislation to restrict freedoms, and ignore the growing resentment of America and everything it has pretended to hold dear.

Shame on us. And shame on all the blind, idealistic conservatives who voted for this garbage. The pendulum needed to swing if we were going to keep our government in balance, and you didn't allow that. Your unrealistic paranoia about Teh Eveel Libruls has stagnated our nation and left us in a nightmare. From here in the center, you are scum. I'd wish a heavy burden of guilt and shame on you, but you appear to be immune to such burdens. There is no justice for this situation, dammit.

If you weren't a married man and I wasn't a straight bloke, I'd want your babies.

Well, I do not think Scarborough is too typical of the wingers. First, he doesn't have to worry about being reelected anymore, and therefore pandering to the Republican base. He works for NBC and not Fox, which means he was not actually hired to shill for the administration. He has always been a bit more independent than the usual run of the talking heads. All he really needs to do is get and keep viewers. And I suspect they have looked at the situation and admitted to themselves that the people who watch Scarborough Country are just not interested in hearing outright propaganda. His was always a right-of-center show, and it is now at loggerheads to deny the blisteringly obvious.

Now, Hannity and those clowns...they are literally part of the Republican apparatus, and their loyal viewers are in fact the Republican base. (Read Christian right.) They would never forgive him for abandoning Dubya and Jesus (to the extent they draw a distinction between the two), and at the same time, no one else will be interested in a mea culpa from them. It would (correctly) smack of mere cynical opportunism (and force them all to admit they have been intellectually dishonest for years) and in the end it will be bad for their pocketbooks to admit they were wrong. No, they'll keep levelling accusations of treason, it's their raison d'etre.

I do not always agree with Joe Scarborough, but I can actually watch his show (even before this) and not burst a blood vessel. And more importantly, I respect him.

I couldn't have said this better myself.

I really liked Clinton and he continues to do things for the betterment of mankind. Bush can go die in a fire, kthxbye.

I don't think those right-wing appologists are just now coming to 'realize' this. I think Rush Limpbaugh said it all when he confessed after the election that he felt 'liberated,' because he doesn't have to 'carry the water for these guys anymore.' Now that the election is over, all the right wing talking heads are free to say what they really think, and have thought all along. Up to, and including Bush himself, who said that Rummy would stay until the end of his term the day BEFORE the election, and then threw him under the bus the day AFTER the election. (And I'm secretly hoping that Colin Powell was waiting in the parking lot to beat the crap out of him, now that he's not being protected by his Pentagon body guards. ;)

The only true rebuttal of the Bush administration's handling of, well, EVERYTHING? Impeachment.
I want to believe the Dems will consider and impliment this. I also want to believe I'll marry Salma Hayak, don't mean it'll happen. Whatever faith I have in government has long gone up in smoke.

These are proud people, putting more effort into saving face than ten Feudal Era shoguns, and they'll keep spouting the Big Lies even after they're brought before Jesus for judgement, if you believe that sort of thing. They don't let go, they won't back down, they never give up. Those would be admirable qualities, if not for the blood on their hands. THAT'S why they call 'em Red States.
